Webankieta offers several possibilities to export data from a survey, test or form. Two of them are useful for further analysis in Excel: CSV and XLSX. The advantage of the latter format is that it is a native Microsoft Excel format and you can start analyzing data immediately after opening the file. The disadvantage, however, is the fact that, especially in the case of long surveys, it generates very long – much longer than a CSV file. Therefore, we usually recommend exporting a CSV file, importing it into Excel, and converting it to an XLSX file. The entire process takes only a few dozen seconds.

We have already written about how to export results in our guide. Below are instructions on how to convert a CSV file to XLSX. It was developed based on the Microsoft Excel 2013 program.

  1. First, select the entire first column of the downloaded file (1),

  2. Then select the "Data" tab (2) and "Text to Columns" (3),

  3. Next, select the "Delimited" box (4) and click "Next" (5),

  4. Next, mark the characters by which the data columns are separated. For us, this will be "Comma" (6) and select the "Finish" option (7).

    csv_2

  5. If you want, you can also change the width of the columns so that they display the entire content in the cells. To do this, select all columns (8), then choose the "Format" option (9), and the "AutoFit Column Width" option (10),

  6. Remember to save your file with the .xlsx extension.
