Use Zapier to connect Startquestion with 3000+ apps
Use Zapier to **send survey results to your company's CRM and other tools** you use daily, or **trigger the sending of survey invitation emails based on an action originating in a selected program**.
Thanks to Zapier, you can easily **integrate two applications with zero or minimal help from the IT department**. You can use the Zapier + CustomerHero + selected program(s) integration in two ways:
CustomerHero as the destination (Zapier "action") – this configuration allows you to send survey invitation emails to clients or users after they have completed specific events in your program, e.g., subscribed to a newsletter or webinar, completed a transaction, changed a package/plan, or abandoned a cart.
CustomerHero as the source (Zapier "trigger") – this configuration allows you to send collected responses to other programs, such as a CRM, email marketing tool, or database.
How to connect Zapier with CustomerHero?
First, a note that applies to all instructions regarding Zapier and CustomerHero. Startquestion is CustomerHero's sister platform, which has exactly the same features but is dedicated to English-speaking clients. For technical reasons, when integrating your programs with CustomerHero, you should always select the name **Startquestion.**
1. Log in to your Zapier account.
2. Search for Startquestion in the app directory and click Connect.
3. You will be asked to provide login credentials, which you can generate in your CustomerHero Account settings -> Integrations -> Zapier.
4. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret for Zapier and paste them into the connection screen (if you don't know where to find them, we have prepared an instruction for you).
5. Next, click "Yes, Continue".
Test the connection to make sure everything is working correctly. If so, you can proceed.
How to create an integration (Zap) with CustomerHero as the destination program (action)?
1. For the integration to work, you must provide an email address in the "Trigger" field. Examples of triggers include:
a new registration or client (e.g., in Mailchimp or Intercom)
a new transaction or payment (e.g., in Shopify or Magento)
filling out a support/customer service form (e.g., in Zendesk or Livechat)
signing up for an event or confirming attendance (e.g., in Eventbrite or Eventfarm)
a new tag added to a user or updated deal (e.g., in Intercom or Pipedrive)
a new candidate or employee (e.g., in Greenhouse or Bamboo HR)
2. For testing purposes, we will use a simple trigger that adds a **new row to a Google spreadsheet**. Create a new spreadsheet with at least one column named "email" (you can add additional attributes in other columns) and a few sample emails in consecutive rows. Use this as a trigger for your integration.
3. Next, open the **Actions** field and select **Startquestion** from the list of programs.
4. Select **"Send Survey via Email".** This will send the survey invitation selected in the trigger to the respondent. For this trigger, an email address is required, but you can also include additional user attributes. Attributes can be used to filter survey results or as dynamic variables in the invitation content or survey questions.
**Examples of user attributes:**
first name (to be used, for example, in an email invitation as "Hi {Adam}"),
package type (to be used, for example, when filtering results to segment responses from users/clients),
date (to be used, for example, in email invitations as "Hi, you signed up for the conference on {May 26, 2022}, please let us know your accommodation and dining preferences").

5. Select your CustomerHero account. If you connected only one account, it will likely be your email address.
6. In the **Email address** field, select the source of the email address that will come from the trigger (e.g., Excel) and will be used as the message recipient.
7. Select the **survey** you want to send to users. You will see the internal names of the surveys from the previously connected Webankieta/Startquestion account here.
8. Select the invitation email template to be used in this Zap. If you don't have one, first create a survey invitation template in your CustomerHero account.
9. Optionally, you can also decide to send an automatic reminder, which will only be sent to users who have not completed the survey within a specified time. If you want to send a reminder, select the email template again and specify the time after which it should be sent to those who haven't participated in the survey (time is counted in hours).
10. When everything is set, click Continue and Test. After a successful test, you can turn on the Zap, sit back, and enjoy the automation!
How to create a Zap with CustomerHero as the source (trigger)?
The rules for using CustomerHero as a Zapier trigger are very similar to when it was the destination of the integration. Here, CustomerHero is the tool that initiates all processes - it allows you to send responses collected in a given survey to other applications (CRMs, email marketing tools, or databases).
1. After logging into your Zapier account, click "Create Zap" (menu on the left side)
2. Select Startquestion from the list of available programs.
3. Choose "New Survey Response" as the triggering event (trigger).
4. In the next step, you should select the account from which you want to fetch the survey.
5. After clicking the "Continue" button, you need to configure the trigger. By clicking in the survey field, you will be able to see all projects from your CustomerHero account. Select the one you will need for your specific project:
6. Next, you can test the trigger and proceed to the next step - setting the action point, meaning selecting the tool to which your survey responses will be directed. Exactly as we described in the first part of the manual.
